The Beagle Freedom Project and the Gates foundation

I was scrolling through social media and saw this FB post from the Beagle Freedom Project. I have earlier read about the horrible things we put these dogs through and every time I read about it I look at Wille. What would I say to someone that asked me if he or she could borrow him and do some experiments on him? Like, make him inhale smoke or inject radioactive substances. I would probably ask that person if they were out of their mind and then run as fast as I could away from that person with Wille in my arms, protecting him from the horrible things that person wanted to do to him. You just do not do this to an innocent animal that trusts you and wants to do whatever you ask them to do. But we do this to them every day.

I made a small donation to and keeping my fingers crossed that they raise a lot of money. The Gates foundation is going to double the donations.

Don’t forget – tomorrow is #GivingTuesday! This year, we’re excited to be partnering with Facebook to match up to $2 million in donations made to non-profit organizations through Facebook starting at 8 AM EST tomorrow. Learn more and get started here: https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers

And soon it will be Christmas

I have always liked Christmas; it is my favorite holiday with all its brightness and cheeriness. The season to be jolly and all that Christmas happiness. I am going to put up the Christmas decorations today and look up a nice vegan dessert for the family dinner this weekend. It has to be easy to do and have flavors that taste like Christmas, without a lot of sweetness. I have used the word Christmas in every sentence now:)

I got these in the mail today. Three of the organizations I support and love hearing from. Where my money goes and how they manage the day to day issues. The organizations are Hjärta till Hjärta (Heart to Heart), Hundstallet (dog protection compound), and Forska utan djurförsök (Research without animal testing).

Forska utan djurförsök have funded thirteen projects this year. Four of them are:

Cell and computer models that save animals
Many drugs turn out to have a lacking effect on humans after several animal tests have been done. With this model, non-functioning drugs can be sorted out early before a variety of animal tests are performed.

How do tendons heal?
They want to develop models so that we can test on cells from the patient’s tendons and not on animals.

How does cancer spread?
They receive funding to develop a new, animal-free model to study how cancer spreads in the body. They will replace trials where you enter “windows” in the body of the test animal to see what happens during the trial.

Cure cancer and improve drug tests.
New methods to test drug effects and new substances that can become new drugs against breast cancer.

I have never been so sure as I am today that we do not need animal testing and that we just are lazy and do not want to change how we have done things.

Climate Change is real – argument essay

I am listening, reading and watching arguments about if Climate change is real or not. I have to write my argumentative essay and I have chosen to argue that Climate change is real. Found some really good arguments on this site.

You do realize that the 97% is a biased Study that can’t be confirmed, right?- Derick Entertainment. From the comments on this Youtube video.

How do you argue with people that think that science can´t be confirmed?

Notice how MOST scientists call it Climate Change and NOT Global Warming because Warming is NOT happening. Climate Change means in some periods of time are HOTTER then average while some periods of time COLDER then average. Climate Change is NATURAL and has been going on since the beginning of TIME.- Robert Albee. From the comments on this Youtube video.

What do you need to argue against this kind of comment? All the facts that are out there are obviously not enough so what more is needed?

Isn’t about jobs. It’s a culture war | The Guardian

I have to say that this is my kind of article. I love reading about this war that has come up to the surface with the changes that the whole world need to embrace. How can a clean environment be a bad thing? Why is everyone so angry? It is like watching tennis, one says something and the other one replays. Not to solve the issue, they speak just for the fight of it. Is John Quiggin right?

Since environmentalists support renewable energy, conservatives must oppose it. But they are delaying the inevitable- Johan Quiggin

I am pretty sure that we all can agree on that they are losing but what I wonder is why they want to go into a fight where the outcome already is set? Arrogance, a larger than life look on them self? I do not think that I am ever going to understand this kind of behavior fully. Johan Quiggin remark that they are scared made me smile. Trump who is the biggest “I do not believe in renewable energy” is only scared. That is a way to turn one of the most powerful men into a little boy.

Future global warning with NASA Climate change

Roughly every six years, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) enlists hundreds of climate scientists worldwide in producing assessment reports. IPCC report authors rigorously evaluate the latest results from climate models run on supercomputers. Internationally, a few dozen modeling groups—including NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies—contributed projections of 21st century climate to the current IPCC Fifth Assessment Report. The models simulated how Earth might respond to different scenarios of greenhouse gas emissions and reduction measures. Watch the video to see how global temperatures respond to the business as usual scenario, where carbon dioxide concentrations rise to 936 parts per million—more than double today’s levels of 400 parts per million—by the year 2100.

I am a proud European

My old Volvo.

I have read so many good news lately that have made me think about how proud I am over Scandinavia and Europe. Yeah, it is politics, which takes forever to get somewhere but we have an intention to change the world for the better, and we are going to. France stepped in and covered the money that we lose when the USA leave the Paris agreement. Thank you, France. 20 countries and 6 states have formed Powering Past Coal Alliance with the intention to phase out coal power. Sweden has now signed and joined that group. I would have been surprised otherwise.

Sweden is one of the greenest countries in the world (even if we are not on this list yet) and we do work hard and try to help other countries. But we still get penalties from EU thought, we pollute the people that live in Stockholm to much and Stockholm are planning to ban diesel cars year 2019. All of them. That makes up for 6 out of 10 cars. People that just both a diesel car are not happy, but I hope that they stick with this decision and just let people deal with it. I do not know how big of a penalty EU has given us for not reaching the goal, but I hope it works for the city to take action. The citizens have to get used to it. Buy an electrical car instead if you want to drive in Stockholm. Or use a carpool service but make a change in your everyday life that helps the environment.

The first snow and Children´s Climate prize

The first snow is here and Wille loves it:)

Last year it looked like this:)

That was to much snow for my taste. Lovely to look at but not suitable for a city. It was chaos that week.

I love reading about young innovative people. Like Edgar that started his own company called Green Venture Recycles and now has won The Children´s Climate prize. I refuse to think that our future is not bright with so many engaged young people that also see an opportunity in taking care of the environment. We owe it to them to support and have a positive mindset on everything that has happened and is happening in the world. If we do not believe, why should they?

Not my fault, the WP gods is just not with me

I woke up at 5 o’clock and have had a busy Saturday, but I  managed to write two blog posts that both got deleted by WordPress. You know the feeling, oh I give up! Well, I had that feeling twice today. I had spent so much time on them and the second one I just pushed Save Draft, WP asked if I was sure and I replied yes. Then it went blank, and everything was gone. A blogger’s worst nightmare:)

An old injury came back yesterday when I was at the gym, so I need to book an appointment at the rehab center we have just around the corner. I hope they are okay. I do not want to go with this kind of injury a long time; you lose your feeling in the leg if you do not correct it immediately. Been there, done that.

I have done everything that I had on my to-do list so I am going to see a movie and look up what´s happening on social media. We got lots of good news yesterday. I have thought about why everything seems to go sooo slow and be such a big fight all the time, and the only good thing I see is that people get angry and takes action. Emagine a world that is full of engaged people that know that they have a voice and aren’t afraid to speak out AND an American president that likes our earth. Trump can´t be president forever, and maybe the next one is going to speed things up.

I don´t know; I just try to see the positive side of all that is happening. An elephant sanctuary got some donations because of the Trump administration yesterday and publicity. That is something to celebrate and also that the Trump administration took back the no ban on trophy hunting.
